What these numbers are. At each visit, the patient, a nurse and the physician separately rated the improvement of the treated side compared to that patient’s untreated side from 0% to 100%. The three ratings were averaged. These were clinical assessments.
Every group, every monthTap a row for its figures
Each row is one age group, laid on a scale running from nothing to complete improvement. The four marks are months one, two, three and four, numbered on the row you have chosen. No group had stopped climbing when the study ended.
Ages 40 to 49. 44% in the first month, then 63, then 79, finishing at 94. The steepest climb of the four, and the only group to pass ninety.
Ages 50 to 59. Level with the forties at 43% in the first month, then the fastest gain of any group through months two and three, finishing at 92.
Ages 60 to 69. 33% to start, then roughly fifteen points a month all the way through, finishing at 78.
Ages 70 to 79. The slowest start, 35 to 42 over the first two months, then the climb steepens: 57 at three months and 73 at four.
Other conditions measured
All four conditions, at four months
Four conditions were scored, in every decade from the twenties to the nineties. Pick a decade and the four readings are the ones for that group; the trace under each shows how that condition ran across every decade in the study.
Rosacea was defined in the study as persistent pinkness.
Protocol
0.2mL to the cheek, chest and back of the hand and forearm, one side only. Every other day for two months, then twice weekly for two months.
Participants and adverse reactions
Every patient over 60 had thin skin. No allergic reactions recorded, including among 14 with known seafood allergies.
Study formulation
The study used 2% Natural Marine Extract in a liposome lotion. The products sold here use the same 2% concentration in almond oil or aloe vera gel.
Age-group data. Percentage of improvement of the left hand, forearm, chest and face using Natural Marine Extract, versus just the lotion vehicle on their right side.
